(ANS – Rome – October 30) – The report “Persecuted more than ever: Focus on anti-Christian persecution between 2017 and 2019,” prepared by the Pontifical Foundation Aid to the Church in Need, shows that:

Nearly 300 million Christians live in lands of persecution; 20 countries in the world are of extreme concern as regards human rights violations;

In 2019, 18 priests and a nun were killed, 15 in Africa. In Burkina Faso 3 priests were killed (among them we remember the Salesians Fr. Fernando Hernandez and Fr. Antonio Cesar Fernandez);even in Asia striking attacks have occurred, such as in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday in which 258 people died.
